About the City

Budva is one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast . According to the legend and  Greek myths  its beginning is connected with Cadmo son of the Phoenician king Agenor  who was expelled  from Thebes.



Nature has gifted  unique beauty of sun, sea and a lot of  pearly beaches below the mountain range  to this town which is thought to be 2,500 years old. The influence of great cultures (Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Slavs …) marked the history of this town and the spirit of ancient  times and civilizations is  felt  today.

All that gives a  special color  to Budva which is grown as a unique tourist pearl of this part of the Adriatic.  In addition to the valuable cultural and historical heritage, constructions, excavations, fortresses, monasteries and churches every corner of the city offers opportunities  for  having cultural programs  as well as  each of its plateau is a natural stage.


As a famous  tourist resort Budva is known more than  hundred years. The first tourists came here in the early twenties of the last century. The number of tourists is gradually increased as well as the  accommodation capacity is grown at the same time.

The tourist offer became  better  and  enriched. Budva  has been  the most popular destination in Montenegro for several decades .  The coastal area around Budva, called the Budva Riviera, is the centre of Montenegrin tourism.
